Whether you loved them or hated them when they were around, So-Solid were at the pinnacle of UK music and worked with some legends in black music . They spread their tentacles far and wide and diversified their overall product by letting members go off and do semi-seperate projects. Oxide and Neutrino, MAC and Skat-D, Megaman,Romeo,Lisa Maffia etc all expreiencing varying degrees of success. For me the one outstanding offshoot was and still is “The Reelists”. The RnB duo had high production values courtesy of Mr Shabz and excellent vocals from Sef. At the time they were better than alot of US groups about.

At the age of 23, Sef signed to Polydor as one half of the duo The Reelists, releasing the classic ‘Freak Mode’ single to critical and club acclaim. After a label collapse, the group were scooped up by the MD of Atlantic UK, resulting in a world tour and collaborations with Rod Temperton (Michael Jackson), Sean Garret (Chris Brown, Mariah Carey, 112), and Mike City (Brandy). Sef was later introduced to modern soul legend Robin Thicke, leading to the pair teaming up on an enormous track on Sef’s new album. After two years, the label couldn’t find right time to release Sef’s incredible debut solo project. Sef’s understandable frustration at being shelved led to him approaching his brother Shabz, who along side Reelist Producer K1 had formed the Music Kidz production label. Now free of his major label deal, Sef has begun his musical rebirth. Creds: desihits

They seemed to disappear in general with sef popping up to lace hooks on underground so-solid tracks here and there. In an industry that has seen Tinchy Styder and Dizzy Rascal score national pop chart No.1 spots. (They did what they need to do and did it well. ) the question is WHERE IS THAT PROPER UK R&B ?:

Here’s your answer

Sef is back with rapper, producer and book author Swiss. As you’ve probably just seen half of the So-Solid Crew turn up in the slick-looking video which is a nice touch. |I’ll be definitely supporting this track as much as poss and we are trying to get Sef to appear on the XposureShow in the very near future.

What do you think of the track. Lemme know below
