Gfrsh’s freestyle for SBTV.co.uk has not long been out and is already being hailed as simply the best one yet .
As always with acolades (props) comes nay-sayers (hate) and some of the things I’ve seen written on twitter and elsewhere was completely out of order. Everybody is entitleed to their opinion about anything on the internet , you upload it , it’s fair game. But on analysing alot of the negative comments they were empty pointless insults and putdowns. Other MCs claiming they are better than Gfrsh yet SBTV or any of the other main new media sites aren’t coming around with a video camera to record them .Gfrsh is a former guest on the Xposure Show where he showed that he was an entrepreneur as well as a lyricist.
Bottom Line: For there to be a movement there has to be some unity. Some support from within the ranks , backing each other. If you all want to eat then you have to work together to make a bigger pie So there are more slices . According to most Gfrsh has raised the bar. I have my own opinions after seeing the likes of Wrestch 32 and Chipmunk . Comment underneath and let me know what you actually think .
It’s not real yet but it’s be cool if your iphone had…
Here’s one of two virtual touch-driven DJ turntable setups (second one under the jump) that might whet your appetite for future iPhone/Touch software. But one wonders users would manipulate the itsy-bitsy controls on the mixers. DJ Pen Stylus?
THIS IS JUST THAT VIRTUAL Dj ( SPIT) imposed on the iphone but it would be handy if it was real
I FILED THIS UNDER CRAP … BECAUSE IT IS !! IT WAS FUN TO READ . COURTESY OF THE SUN
CHART-TOPPING N-Dubz star Dappy terrified a mum with a DEATH THREAT – after she texted a live Radio 1 show to poke fun at him.
Frightened … Chloe Moody may contact police over threat
Steve Hill
Chloe Moody, 22, branded the band “losers” and singled out Dappy as “vile” and “a little boy with a silly hat”.
Scary … exchange on Chloe’s phone
Steve Hill
The rapper took her number down in the studio during The Chris Moyles Show on Tuesday.
The next day, Chloe noticed two missed calls from a number she didn’t recognise – so texted back to ask who it was.

The chilling text response was: “Your gonna die, U sent a very bad msg towards N Dubz on The Chris Moyels show yesterday Morning and for that reason u will never be left alone!! If u say sorry I will leave u alone u ****.”
More calls came, and a text reading: “Pick up the phone then u f****** Chicken”.
When terrified Chloe did answer she faced a barrage of insults.
Another text followed. It read: “u dum f****** ****head u can call me names over the radio but when I call u direct u chicken out u punk!nana f****** niiiii, Dappy.”
Show … Chris Moyles
PA
Chloe, who lives with her three-year-old daughter in Boston, Lincs, said: “It’s terrifying when anybody sends you a death threat, whether it’s real or not. Somebody of a fragile mind and nervous would be worrying what they were going to do.
“His behaviour is unprofessional. I’m considering going to the police.”
She added: “When you put yourself in the public eye you need to be able to handle criticism. I also feel let down by Radio One.”
Dappy and bandmates Tulisa and Fazer topped the charts last year with song Number 1 with Tinchy Stryder.
In December 2008, the star – real name Dino Contostavlos – got a four-week suspended jail term for spitting in a girl fan’s face.
Last night he said: “I totally apologise to Chloe. I sent the messages to her in the heat of the moment when I was angry, but that is no excuse.”
He also apologised to Radio 1 and vowed to make a donation to a charity of Chloe’s choice.
The BBC also apologised and said: “He must have taken the number down from the production team’s text console in the studio. We were unaware of this but will ensure it doesn’t happen again.”
I don’t know if this is real or fake or what .. all i know is i’t s as funny as it gets… watch it .. comment share it .. I don’t care .. I just need to stop laughing long enough to press “publish”
When Kiss 100 came on the air back in 1990 it was exciting to have a station that was going too cater for market where we had been previously been left out or let down . There had been efforts from legal stations Radio London had Nite FM and a Fresh start to the week hosted Dave Pearce and the late great Steve Walsh and Capital had Greg Edwards for a long while before Simon Philips and then a few sporadic shows on a few other stations tried to fill the black music void that only pirate stations were prepared to tackle . Gordon Mac(namee) had a vision to do what the pirates were doing but legally and that was what made kiss so popular . RnB Soul Hiphop and even Reggae legally .. I was at the outdooor launch and apart from Beats International and Lindy Layton the day was brilliant. London showed the rest of the country that “urban contemporary” music was big and popular enough to warrant an entire station dedicated to it. This in itself made other stations sit up and recognise that holding down the sound of the streets and the clubs was not cool or viable any more. Kiss 100 was here to stay… well at least the name was …
EMAP came and snapped up Kiss100 and an instant restructure occurred. Mainstays like the breakfast show’s Steve Jackson were gone to say the least. Rodigan moved from a Sony radio award winning drivetime show back to Sunday night and replaced by some unfunny Aussie bloke who knew nothing about the music he was playing called Ugly Phil. Later still. They re-branded themselves and the station for a fun young London.. ok cool .Through all this you knew that at night whether you liked rap or reggae or UK Garage or GRIME or any specialist genre, you could find it on Kiss on any given night of the week. They wouldn’t change that ….would they ??
Kiss have decided that its specialist shows are no longer worthy of the 2hour slot and will instead start from 12am and finish at 1am.
Some DJ’s were let go.
Another blow to radio really.
Here is what grime ambassador Logan Sama had to say on the matter:
Just as I am gearing up for exciting projects going forward into 2010 that will add another dimension to the way in which people are introduced to the underground ‘Grime’ sound, there has been a spanner thrown in the works.
We, as specialist DJs at Kiss, were recently made aware that as of anuary 4th there will be sweeping changes to the Kiss fm evening schedule.
The long and the short of it is that every show in the 11-1 timeslot will now start at midnight and finish at 1. All shows will only be 1 hour long. Several DJs have been let go as you may have heard if you listened to Jay Cunning’s Breakbeat show after mine last night.
As you can imagine this has come as a bit of a shock to all of the Kiss DJs. The shift of focus away from upfront specialist music to more playlisted hours is one which the management feel will enable the station to compete with the likes of Capital and Galaxy fm and with Swerve’s show now starting an hour later at 10pm all of the genre specific late night shows took the brunt of the hit.
The main effect this will have on my show is that it will reduce the number of records I can physically play in half. As it is an already difficult task juggling the established names with the exciting new talent coming through, this will prove a big hindrance. However, hopefully it will cause artists to rediscover the many other platforms we have for promotion, namely regular pirate radio appearances which I personally believe is something which has been lost on the current generation of acts who have grown up in a recording booth, not in a radio studio or rave.
This puts even more focus for me on the new live video format show I spoke with you guys about previously. My plan was to take a weekly 3-4 hour show online and allow the space for not only established acts to do some ‘proper sets’ free of cutting time off for adverts or forcing language restrictions, but also use it as a platform to give more time to talent from outside the top 20 pool of artists. This was my plan before and it is DOUBLY my focus now, as the Kiss show will be forced to become a streamlined version of what it currently is only showcasing the top tier of acts to a commercial radio audience.
I want to be doing my part to ensure the survival of a thriving underground where people can continue to make this hard Grime sound and you guys can continue to enjoy it.
I just want to stress that this is in no part a reflection on Kiss’ or the media’s attitude towards Grime as a genre. It is not my show getting cut shorter, it is EVERY show getting cut down. And as I said, several DJs were let go.
You are welcome to share your feedback with Kiss by contacting them at http://www.totalkiss.com/info/contact-us/
I look forward to the new challenges ahead in 2010 and am excited about doing more to give you, the dedicated fans more of what you want.
Keep it Grimy.
Very annoyed by this…very!!!!
After bulding a nationwide network of KISS FMs and a website that covers them all totalkiss.com the London arm or thr syndicate decides it wants a larger market share of London commercial music demographic pie and to directly compete with Capital fm. Kiss’sdaytim playlist is very similar to capitals bar the rock and indie music tracks as it is . They are playing very commercial music and if it is RnB its very soft-crossover-poppy stuff and Alexander Burke-esque accessible.
Now, take this as nothing but hearsay however … I heard that Kiss asked the governing bodies that be to change their product model to GET RID OFF the specialist shows completely . That request was denied .. which brings us to where we are now ..all the genre specific shows will start at 12.00am and finish 1 hour later at 1.00. Meaning kiss can continue the POP TRANSITION TO MAXIMUM LEVELS. From Logan Sama to David Rodigan ..1 hour shows. We understand that it’s a business first and the aim is to get listeners because that means more advertising revenue and appealling to a wider audiences means more lovely cash. But where does that leave you as someone that really does love to hear that particular genre of music you happen to be in to. Dialling up pirate stations that have Djs with will constantly chat over the music and have no idea that the music should be more important than them?? Where does that leave those who listen to to radio who want to be entertained if all that stations want to do is sound like another station that already exists. wiull they have to sit through endless pap you can hear anywhere else on the legal FM band . Where’s the difference ?? Where’s the choice??
What happened to the remit of being different from the rest and catering for thge still huge black music market . Let’s face another fact even that is more commercial than ever.
Even the great Choice with is humble beginnings in South London, kgiving the pewople what they want, had begun to POP-IT-UP by the time it left Borough High Street hand in hand with it’s new owners Captial Radio. From being London’s Number One for hip hop and rnb it now plays whatever Capital tells it to. Yet still it continues to retain remnants of being a station that plays black music.
The industry is changing and I as a presenter must change with it if I want to survive. I love to entertain and I love to play big tunes . I just wonder how robotic and anal radio is going to be in the next 5 years. Who’s going to win . the station that chases paper at the risk of it’s niche listeners or they station that takes a chance of being different . Will the music you like be forced back on to pirates and be shoved back under ground or will the uniquely funded BBC become the champion of black music and shows with personality spirit and soul.
