I knew this would happen and of course it did and I did nothing about it (facepalm). Zuckerberg buys instagram before it got too big and screwed it up with it’s policy to use your picture to make money . They tried to wiggle out of it  byt saying it was the wording in fear of a mass account shutdown.  That may  include me . I have pictures of my kids on there which i dont mind in public on instagram. As loads of parents do. If they are going to be able to use my likeness  or that of my kids and make money off it  with or without my consent ( who’s to say that they don’t already)  then maybe I need to be off here or at least take off the pictures I don’t want on there . I use it a lot for entertaining the people  and promoting myself as a presenter and DJ.  I’ve already removed alot of my kids pics from facebook . Looks like I’ll be doing the same in  Instagram at the very least . Worst case scenario.. closing the account . As I write this  I’m exporting and downloading all my photos ( which I now regret not doing when Facebook bought Insta in the first place).

Photographer Magnus Andersson, 39, from London, said: ‘I’m planning to stop using it because this is supposed to be a social exchange between people.

‘For a company to come and make a profit from my content without my permission is shocking.’
Media lawyers also warned that Instagram could face privacy and data protection issues if it sold images of people without their permission.

This makes me think about why I put up some of the content I put up.  the Music /DJ / radio stuff I full get. It’s a way of using social networking to promote yourself.  I put up other more personal stuff for the primary reason of closing the distance gap  for family and friends that don’t have a lot of immediate access. so they can share in some of my experiences. but with that comes a caveat that putting my family up in public is exactly that .  to all and sundry . No longer comfortable with that . If I am continuing this account I will ONLY have my shit up there nothing to do with my family. I’m not laying the blame entirely at Facebook/Instagram’s feet. at least half of accountability must be carried by me. The user. I’m not stupid and un-savvy when it comes to tech. I’m awake. I know what I’m getting into when I sign up . for the most part I will read t’s&c’s before clicking that sign up button.
